1. Reporting and blocking in the app

2. What happens to a report

Reports go to a moderation queue reviewed by a person on our team. We aim to review reports within 2 business days, and we look first at reports about children, threats of violence, forced marriage and fraud. We may remove content, warn, suspend or permanently ban the account, and keep relevant records. We report child sexual exploitation and abuse to the National Crime Agency, and we will share information with the police where the law requires it or someone is at risk of serious harm. We do not scan messages or photos automatically, and profiles may appear before anyone on our team has reviewed them.

3. Complaints about how we handle safety

You can complain if you think we have not dealt properly with illegal or harmful content, with a report you made, or with action we took against your content or account (including if you think we got it wrong). Email support@legalnikahai.com with the subject "Online safety complaint", the usernames involved and what you want us to do. We will acknowledge it, look at it again with someone who did not make the original decision where possible, and tell you the outcome. NikahAI is a user-to-user service regulated by Ofcom under the Online Safety Act 2023; Ofcom does not handle individual complaints but you can tell it about concerns at ofcom.org.uk.

4. Forced marriage and marriage under 18

Marriage in Islam requires the free consent of both people. In England and Wales, forcing someone to marry is a criminal offence under section 121 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. Since 27 February 2023, the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022 means nobody under 18 can marry in England and Wales, and it is a crime to do anything intended to cause a child under 18 to marry, even without pressure and even in a religious or cultural ceremony that is not legally registered, or by taking them abroad.

Anyone using NikahAI to arrange a marriage for someone under 18, or to pressure anyone into marriage, will be banned and reported.

5. Romance fraud and scams

6. Meeting safely

7. Children

NikahAI is only for adults aged 18 and over. We rely on the date of birth members give and on reports; we do not currently use age-verification technology. If you think a member is under 18, report them with the "underage" reason. If you see anything that sexualises or endangers a child, report it to us and to CEOP (ceop.police.uk). Report child sexual abuse images to the Internet Watch Foundation (iwf.org.uk). Do not copy or forward the material.
